Dr Disrespect's Twitch Ban–It's Been One Week With No Answers

High-profile Twitch streamer Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV (better known as Dr Disrespect) has been banned from the livestreaming platform yet again. And this time, it seems to be permanent, rather than a temporary matter involving a DMCA. Beahm himself said he is unsure of why he was banned. However, others on Twitter claim the reason could be very serious, and not because of a copyright claim, as some originally speculated. We still don’t know why Beahm was hit with a ban. His punishment is one of the highest-profile bans in Twitch history. After more than a week, we still have no idea why the ban occurred. It remains unclear if Twitch is planning to address the reason in the future.

Why Was Dr Disrespect Banned From Twitch?

It’s unclear exactly why or how long Dr Disrespect will be banned. Following news of the ban Dr Disrespect did not say anything publicly about the situation, and searching for his Twitch account yielded no results. However, on June 27, a day after news of the ban broke, Beahm broke his silence and posted an update on Twitter, addressing his fans. According to the streamer, Twitch has not provided him with any specific reason for the ban. Meanwhile, Monday’s temporary suspension of Donald Trump was accompanied by specific reasoning, with Twitch even citing specific violations of its “hateful conduct” policy.

Dr Disrespect’s Statement On His Ban

Regarding Dr Disrespect’s ban, Twitch has offered no specific explanation for the move publicly. Of course, this has left room for speculation. Some have suggested that it could be the result of a DMCA takedown (of which there has been a flurry recent). However, this would ordinarily result in a temporary ban.

Twitch’s Statement On Dr Disrespect’s Ban

When we reached out to Twitch for comment, we were given the same generic statement already offered to the wider community: “As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”

The Twitch Community Reacts To Dr Disrespect’s Ban

Dr Disrespect was banned from the livestreaming platform back in June 2019 for broadcasting from a public restroom at E3. The ban only lasted two weeks and saw a divisive response from the Twitch community.

According to esports reporter Rod Breslau, Dr Disrepsect’s ban is not related to a DMCA measure, and is in fact a permanent ban, rather than a temporary one. This was the first indication there could be something more serious going on than a simple copyright issue. Twitch is also giving refunds to those who had subscribed to his channel and his emotes are no longer on the site.

Breslau also shared a video from Beahm’s final stream that showed him struggling to speak, possibly because he knew what was about to happen.

Zach Bussey, who reports on Twitch happenings, indicated there won’t be a public statement shared by Twitch regarding the ban, but that he too has heard it is permanent.

Another streamer, Shannon Plante (AKA ShannonZKiller), indicated that she’s heard the Dr Disrepect ban is a permanent one, adding that the cause is “serious.” She offered no further specifics, saying she knows the reason for the ban but that she “cannot say” more. She does state that he is “done, and not just on Twitch.” At the time of this writing, his YouTube channel and Twitter account remain online, but Plante deleted her tweet.

Dr Disrespect’s ban comes not long after Twitch removed several other prominent streamers for alleged sexual abuse and harassment, including IamSp00n, BlessRNG, DreadedCone, and others. Earlier this week, Twitch said it would be issuing permanent suspensions following its investigation into these allegations. The accusations led to a Twitch blackout, with streamers staying off the platform for a day to encourage the streaming service to take action against abusers.

Giphy Removes Dr Disrespect GIFs

Popular GIF hosting service Giphy has also apparently removed GIF material featuring Beahm from its site. This is despite the reasoning behind the ban still not being made public.

In related news, two Ubisoft executives were suspended as the company continues its internal investigation into recent misconduct allegations. A day prior, Ubisoft released a statement about these allegations and its response to them, stating its commitment to “taking any and all appropriate disciplinary action” if necessary.

We’re in the third week of Fortnite: Chapter 2, Season 3, and that means there’s a new set of challenges to complete in the battle royale shooter. With Fourth of July weekend now here, fireworks have begun appearing in the game around Lazy Lake, and it seems they’re tied to a separate Captain America challenge. Here’s where the fireworks are located and what you need to do to complete the challenge.

Where Are The Fireworks Locations?

There are at least six different sets of fireworks around the island, and they’re all located around Lazy Lake in grid square F6. You can see the locations of all the fireworks we’ve found on the map below.

How To Complete The Challenge

Once you find a firework, simply hold the Use button to light it; the firework will then take off into the sky and explode into the shape of Captain America’s shield, as you can see below. Light five of them and you’ll get a nice bundle of XP for your troubles.

There are a few other new challenges to complete in Fortnite this week, including one that asks you to land a choppa inside Steamy Stacks. Fortnite Lazy Lake Floating Rings Location Guide: Where To Collect Rings

Week 3 of Fortnite Season 3 is here, which means there’s a new batch of challenges to complete in the battle royale game. While most of the challenges are fairly straightforward, one that may give you a bit of trouble is to collect floating rings at Lazy Lake. To help you out, we’ve put together this map and guide detailing where to find the floating rings and how to complete the challenge. You’ll be able to make your way around the map and find all the rings in no time.

Where Are The Floating Rings Locations?

As the challenge states, the floating rings are all located around Lazy Lake in grid square F6. You’ll find them in various places around the area, but if you’re having trouble tracking them down, we’ve marked the locations of all the rings we’ve found on the map below.

How To Complete The Challenge

Once you spot a floating ring, all you need to do to collect it is walk or jump into it. Collect four rings and you’ll complete the challenge and earn 35,000 XP for your troubles.

While you’re at Lazy Lake, you can also track down fireworks, which have begun appearing around the area just in time for the Fourth of July (and fittingly explode into the shape of Captain America’s shield when lit). You can try it out with our fireworks locations guide. If you couldn’t see real fireworks, it’s a great replacement.

Another Week 3 challenge that may give you some trouble is to land a choppa at Steamy Stacks, so be sure to check out our guide for tips on how to complete that. If you need help with any other missions from this season, you can find more maps and guides in our Fortnite Season 3 challenges roundup.

Lego Invites You To Build Star Wars Art

Lego Art is a new line of sets that allow you to build artwork, specifically portraits. The first series consists of sets for Star Wars: The Sith, Iron Man, The Beatles, and Andy Warhol.

If you purchase the Star Wars: The Sith set, you can construct a 2D portrait of one of three Sith Lords (Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, and Darth Maul). The pieces in the box let you make any one you want. If you want to display all three of them at once, you need to buy three sets (which sell for $119.99 each). If you do fork out the cash for all three, that opens up a fourth building option: a larger image of Darth Vader.

You can do the same thing with the Iron Man set to make a fourth image of him in action. In any set you are tasked to build both the portrait and frame. The portrait is made up entirely of circular colored pieces. The Star Wars set consists of 3,406 pieces. The suggested building age is 18-plus. Lego is currently listing a September 1 release date for all four options. You can find out more about the sets at LEGO’s official site, and take a closer look at them in the gallery below:

Fortnite: Save The World Leaves Early Access, Not Going Free-To-Play

Fortnite: Save the World has technically been in early access since its release in 2017, but that is no longer the case. Epic Games made an announcement explaining that this mode has left early access, and that the development of new content will be slowing down.

Save the World is essentially Fortnite’s campaign mode, and players must pay to access it. This stands in contrast to the free Battle Royale mode, which stole the spotlight. Epic had previously announced plans to take Save the World free-to-play, but those never worked out. With this new announcement, the company confirms that Save the World “will remain a premium experience rather than going free-to-play.”

All of your your current cosmetic purchases will continue to work in both modes, but Epic says that future cosmetic items released for Battle Royale won’t be supported by Save the World. If you have more questions about Save the World content (including the upcoming Ventures feature), check out the full post from the Fortnite team.
