Things are going pretty well for Onic PH and Aura PH as both squads from the Philippines have managed to earn a place in the quarterfinals of the 2020 Mytel International Championship.
Aura are looking to add another title to their growing list as the two time and back-to-back Mobile Legends: Bang Band Professional League Philippines champions continue their hot streak. As the reigning Mytel International Champions, they’re hoping to get another back-to-back added to their current host of accolades.
Onic PH on the other hand are actually the back-to-back MPL-PH runner ups, so they’ve been just short of the title more than once and are looking to take the trophy home to prove they have what it takes to be a champion. Their path wasn’t an easy one through this event, however.
The team went down early, being just one game away from being knocked out of the event before they decided to swap roles back to their roots. Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” Villaluna returned to support while Jason “Jay” Torculas took up the reign role once again. This allowed them to turn things around and win two games in a row to advance to the playoffs.
Aura PH didn’t run into the same issues though and went 2-0 in the group stage including a victory over MPL-PH rivals BREN Esports to pave their way into the quarterfinals.
The quarterfinal matchups for the two are as follows:
Wednesday, July 29 –
-Onic PH vs. Geek Fam ID
-Aura PH vs. Impunity KH
