India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan Representatives Out of FFWS due to COVID-19 Protocols – The Esports Observer

Garena said on Monday that Team Riot and Team TG, representatives of Bangladesh and Pakistan regions, respectively, are out of the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) happening in Singapore on May 22–29

The reason the teams have been ousted from the event are restrictions imposed by the Singaporean government for COVID-19 control. The country announced on April 22 that it would be prohibiting the entrance of people who have been to India in the preceding 14 days. On April 30, they extended the restrictions to include Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Nepal.

Last week, the Indian representatives, Galaxy Racer Esports and Team Elite, were also disqualified from the FFWS due to the same restrictions.

The competition will be carried out without the teams, who will still receive part of the $2M USD prize pool. Garena says it has exhausted its appeals to make possible the participation of the organizations in the FFWS, which will now be disputed by the remaining 18 teams.
