Pokémon reveals Cramorant Max Raid event in Sword & Shield

Pokémon Sword and Shield will play host to a special Max Raid Battle event featuring Cramorant in early February. Players will have a chance to team up to defeat the Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle to earn rewards.

The Cramorant raid event will task players with winning one million Cramorant raids in Pokémon Sword and Shield. If the community successfully achieves this, everyone will unlock special rewards. Play Pokémon’s tweet does not specify exactly what these rewards are. The event will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. ET.

How to beat the Cramorant Max Raid Battle

Cramorant is a Flying/Water-type Pokémon, which means that it has two weaknesses. Electric-type attacks will deal four times the standard damage, which makes Electric-type Pokémon or Pokémon with Electric-type attacks the best choice for this Raid Battle.

Here are some great Electric-type Pokémon to consider:

  • Zeraora
  • Zekrom
  • Zapdos
  • Xurkitree
  • Toxtricity
  • Magnezone
  • Electivire
  • Boltund

Cramorant is also weak against Rock-type attacks, but Rock-type Pokémon take double damage from Water attacks. This makes Electric-type Pokémon the premier counters. While they won’t get the STAB damage bonus, non-Electric type Pokémon with Electric-type attacks will also work well.

Cramorant will likely have Water and Flying-type attacks, so try to avoid bringing Pokémon that are weak to these types. This includes Rock, Ground, Grass, Bug and Fire-type Pokémon.

This event sounds similar to the Zeraora event that took place in Pokémon Sword and Shield last year. Players took down over a million Zeroara raids and everyone received a shiny Zeraora as a reward. Perhaps players will earn a shiny Cramorant this time around!

Be sure to fire up the Nintendo Switch next Wednesday and take down a Cramorant to help earn rewards. Remember that players will need a copy of the game along with a Nintendo Switch Online membership to do a Cramorant raid with others. Those without an online membership can still participate with AI.
