As Dusk Falls is a new narrative game from ex-Quantic Dream lead designer

Thursday’s Xbox Games Showcase featured an announcement trailer for As Dusk Falls, an interactive narrative game in development by independent studio Interior/Night. The studio is headed by Caroline Marchal, former lead game designer for Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.

The moody trailer, which is set in the American Southwest, depicts two families: one with one Black parent and one white parent, the other a white family that takes the former family hostage. The trailer also features an apparent time jump; it starts out by showing the children in these families and then later shows them as adults, meeting one another under different circumstances. This all unfolds as a series of still images that appear to be painted versions of live-action performances.

The project will be the debut game from Interior/Night, which describes its ethos on its company website: “By building experiences based on core truths of love, loss, good, evil, mystery, wonder, family and friendships; the creations from INTERIOR/NIGHT are designed to appeal to a broad audience looking to connect emotionally to what we make, and to learn more about themselves in the process.”

As Dusk Falls will be available on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X and Windows 10.
