Sony are talkin’ ‘bout Bugsnax again, with the news that the game will be free to PS Plus subscribers from day one on the PlayStation 5.
Bugsnax will be available free to PlayStation Plus subscribers until January 4, giving early adopters another free game at launch – on top of the pre-installed Astro’s Playroom.
The offer is only for the PlayStation 5 version though, so you’ll still have to buy it the normal way on PlayStation 4 and PC.
This is the second PlayStation 5 game to be added to PS Plus, with full price game Destruction AllStars due to be offered for free for two months when it launches next February.
Along with the PS Plus Collection of PlayStation 4 games these moves seem to be intended as a counter to Microsoft’s popular Game Pass service.
Bugsnax is a good pick too, as while it’s only an indie title the trailer was one of the most popular during the original PlayStation 5 reveal, in large part thanks to that theme tune.
Despite its popularity it’s still not entirely clear how Bugsnax works but it’s described as a first person, narrative driven adventure that has you searching for pokémon-like creatures that are half insect and half edible snack – which when eaten turns parts of your body into that snack.
It all looks great so far and since it technically has a release date of November 12, even though the PlayStation 5 doesn’t launch in the UK till November 19, we should have a review fairly soon.
