Elden Ring players are all shocked at how useless the Longtail Cat Talisman is.
Back in the Dark Souls days, players could wear the Silvercat Ring to negate fall damage, as long as the player wasn't falling into bottomless holes and pits or trying to dive off cliffs. Fall damage was a bit more of a worry in Dark Souls, so it was considered to be one of the more helpful items in the game. It's no surprise then that it's been carried over to Elden Ring with the Longtail Cat Talisman.
Sadly, the Longtail Cat Talisman has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the worst items in the game. Its infamy was made popular by YouTuber Iron Pineapple, who shared a picture of the Talisman, saying, "POV you think you just got the best talisman in Elden Ring but you actually got the worst".
The problem with the Talisman is that it claims that it "renders the wearer immune to fall damage". Although that seems pretty cut and dry, you need to read the terms and services with this one as it will only save you if the fall doesn't cause instant death. This was the same in Dark Souls, but the map layout made it pretty obvious when the Silvercat Ring was going to come in handy.
Considering that fall damage isn't a worry in Elden Ring like it was in Dark Souls and that it's pretty hard to tell which falls will kill you straight away with how big the open world is, the Longtail Cat Talisman is next to useless when you need it the most and a far cry from how helpful the description makes it seem.
This has instantly made it a meme in the Elden Ring community, with tons of videos of players trying to use it and quickly finding out that it's not quite as helpful as it first seemed. In fact, the Longtail Cat Talisman is so infamously broken that one of the top Google searches for it is, "Longtail Cat Talisman isn't working". Ouch.
