GTA Online players enjoy a lot of updates. Rockstar knows which side its bread is buttered on and is constantly adding to the experience. But what are players most excited about? Is it heists? New businesses? More absurdly overpowered cars? No. Players are frothing at the mouth at the thought of becoming a cab driver …seriously.
Popular GTA Online reporter TezFunz2 shared a quote from a Rockstar newswire revealing a new cabbie career path for GTA Online players looking for legal employment. It ain't much, but it's honest work.
The tweet got shared to Reddit, where players collectively lost their shit at the prospect of driving NPCs around for hours on end. Rockstar is certainly trying to entice players to stick with the job, as "completing multiple fares without a break will increase the rewards." Sounds like the Downtown Cab Co. is trying to undermine Union-sanctioned breaks – remember people, driving while tired can be more dangerous than driving drunk.
One of the top-rated comments reads, "oh finally I can be normal guy with normal job." There are some sort of legal jobs available in GTA Online. The nightclub, auto shop, and arcade provide clean cash, but they're also available as fronts for more illicit activities.
One player (probably correctly) pointed out that "Rp servers gonna be full of taxi drivers." GTA RP is constantly looking for ways to create interactions between criminals and civilians. NoPixel developer DW told TheGamer, "if there isn't a civilian fulfilling that role, then the criminals can't get what they need," so even though it's likely a role already filled on their servers, they can now implement Rockstar's native version as well.
GTA Online has been around for the better part of a decade, and some of you are sick of the life of crime and just want to earn an honest living. Just make sure you stick to the highway code when you're driving your fares around Los Santos.
