The first post-launch hero coming to Marvel’s Avengers has been revealed, as Kate Bishop will be one of the playable heroes arriving in the near future.
Marvel’s Avengers will launch with a line-up of heroes that is similar to the one from the first Avengers movie, with the addition of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel to the team. The developers revealed that more heroes and storylines will be added to the game in the future with free post-launch DLC updates. The first hero to come to Marvel’s Avengers will be Hawkeye, and Spider-Man will be coming to the PlayStation versions of the game as well.

A new War Table digital event was held for Marvel’s Avengers, which gave more details about the post-launch content. It was revealed that Kate Bishop will be coming to Marvel’s Avengers in the future, and will have her own unique storyline, called “Taking AIM”, which will also involve Hawkeye. Bishop will be the first hero added to Marvel’s Avengers after launch. A video of Bishop in action can be found on the Marvel’s Avengers Twitter page. It has since been confirmed on Twitter that Bishop will be voiced by Ashly Burch.
Kate Bishop debuted as a member of the Young Avengers, where she was the Hawkeye equivalent in the group. Bishop’s powers are similar to Hawkeye and Mockingbird, as she is a master of archery, as well as close-quarters combat.
The fact that Kate Bishop is coming to Marvel’s Avengers was already revealed in a datamine, which also suggests that She-Hulk and War Machine will be coming to the game in the future. If this is true, then it suggests that Marvel’s will be using an “Echo Fighter” approach (like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) to add characters that are similar to existing ones, in order to cut down on development time. There are likely some fans who are complaining that Bishop’s powers are too similar to Hawkeye, especially as they will likely be released close together, but she is an awesome character and the doubters should give her a chance. If anything, she has to be more entertaining than Hawkeye (we know that’s a low bar, but still).
Marvel’s Avengers is available on Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 4. Those who purchase the Deluxe version of the game can start playing today.
