Legendary Director John Carpenter Says That He Can’t Wait To Play Horizon Forbidden West

Legendary director John Carpenter has said he "cannot wait" to play Horizon Forbidden West.

Horizon Forbidden West is finally out in the wild and people sure seem to love it. The game has racked up plenty of positive reviews for its cast of characters, improved combat, and upgraded quest structure. It is not surprising to see the game do so well as fans have been itching to jump back into Aloy’s world. However, what is surprising is who some of those fans happen to be – like legendary filmmaker and master of horror John Carpenter who recently shared his excitement for Guerrilla's open-world game.

IGN shared a small video clip on Twitter of an interview with the legendary filmmaker. While talking about what he is interested in, Carpenter quipped that he was eager in putting his feet up, watch basketball, and relax. This prompted the interviewer to ask if he was currently playing any games as part of his relaxation plans. Without hesitation, he responded that he simply “cannot wait” to delve into Horizon Forbidden West.

Naturally, this bit of news sent fans of both the game and Carpenter into a frenzy. The comments under the Tweet show how excited people are to know that the horror icon is also a gamer. People seem amazed that the man who created masked murderer Michael Meyers also enjoys hunting down those pesky burrowers.

However, this is not the only time that Carpenter has shared his love for the series. Specifically, his awe at Ashly Burch’s performance as Aloy in the game. On release day, the filmmaker tweeted out that “Ashly Burch triumphs as Aloy in Horizon Forbidden West, the new sumptuous, epic action game”. He's not wrong.

This is also not the first time that Carpenter has openly discussed his enjoyment of video games, either. Earlier this year, the director praised Halo Infinite for being one of the best in the series. It's good to know that as I spend hours on my couch roaming through the Forbidden West, someone as prestigious as John Carpenter is likely doing the same thing.
