The new Lego Star Wars game, which will encompass all nine films, and run at 4K and 60fps on next gen consoles.
It’s been over a year since Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, a new entry in the Lego series of games by Traveller’s Tales, was first announced.
While we got a brand-new trailer that showed plenty of gameplay and the series’ trademark comedy, one cruel joke was that the game has been delayed and won’t be releasing until 2021.
As disappointing as this news is, the wait may be worth it, as this looks to be the biggest Lego game yet, which isn’t too surprising considering it’s covering nine films, from The Phantom Menace to The Rise Of Skywalker.
Rather than simply package the previous Lego Star Wars games together and tack on new Last Jedi and Rise Of Skywalker levels, the developers have created all new levels, including large open world spaces based on various planets – as we saw at E3 last year.
You will be able to play through the films in any order you wish, so you can start off with the original trilogy, or even see the story told in reverse, and take control of upwards of 500 characters.
Traveller’s Tales and Warner Bros. have also announced a Deluxe Edition of the game, which will come with six DLC character packs inspired by other Star Wars media, including The Mandalorian, Rogue One, and Solo. Physical versions of the game include a Luke Skywalker with blue milk collectible minifigure.
The new trailer confirms that it will be coming to next gen platforms, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, as well.
Since those consoles will be out by next year the game should launch on all consoles simultaneously, although it’s likely only the next gen versions that will be 4K and 60fps.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will release in spring 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
