People Are Making Handsome Shrek And Gigachad In Elden Ring

Elden Ring has a weirdly in-depth character creator given that you'll spend most of the game head-to-toe in armour, drenched in blood and mud. But like any Souls game, fans are using it to make abominations and beautiful creations.

Already, players are seeing how far they can go, making Handsome Shrek and Gigachad. Two Gigachads, I might add. If you were paying attention when Bloodborne came out, you might remember Nigel Thornberry and the Joker among the favourite creations, so it just goes to show how far the cultural zeitgeist has come. From smashing to smashing.

There's a lot more choice in skin colour and far more sliders to toy with in Elden Ring than previous Souls and Souls-like games. Couple that with the improved graphics inspired by Demon's Souls' remake and we've gone from tomato-faced abominations to near picture-perfect recreations of Guts from Berserk. That's just day one – the coming weeks will see even more impressive creations.

Mere hours after Elden Ring went live, one player got hard at work on creating Handsome Shrek, the human version of Shrek. He'll be right at home in Miyazaki's poison swamp. It wouldn't be a Miyazaki game without a poison swamp, eh?

It's a shame you can't customise the horse because Shrek and Donkey teaming up to become Elden Lords, fighting side-by-side against some of the most gruelling of baddies like the dung-eater, would be a sight for sore eyes.

Then there's the Gigachads. There are two so far that have blown up on the Elden Ring subreddit, using the in-depth colour selector to make their characters black and white like the photos. With a jaw that chiselled, the Tarnished could cut Margit the Fell Omen in half with nothing but a flex of their face.

And then you have Guts. Fans have long been bringing Berserk's protagonist from the pages of the manga to FromSoftware's games. Fitting given that FromSoftware has a long-running relationship with the series. Much of Dark Souls and Demon's Souls is ripped right from Berserk or heavily inspired by it, so it wouldn't be right without someone bringing Guts into the mix.
