Hyper Training is back in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and is almost necessary for defeating six-star Tera Raid battles due to their high difficulty. However, in Scarlet and Violet, Hyper Training is easier and more accessable than ever, allowing any trainer to craft the perfect Pokemon.

Hyper Training is the process of maximizing a Pokemon's IVs, or Individual Values, to increase the maximum value its stats can reach. Below, we'll take a in-depth look at what Hyper Training is, how to do it, and how to find Bottle Caps.

What Is Hyper Training?

As mentioned above, Hyper Training a Pokemon involves increasing one of its stat's Individual Values to the maximum value of 31. IVs are hidden numbers that essentially determine how high a Pokemon's given stat can increase. By Hyper Training that stat, you increase the value it can be trained to as high as it can go.

A Pokemon's IVs are set when it is captured or hatched, and can only be changed by Hyper Training. Keep in mind, however, that a Pokemon with Hyper Trained IVs will not pass them down if it breeds.

How To Hyper Train Pokemon

To Hyper Train a Pokemon's stats, head to Montenevera and speak to the NPC with an Abomasnow near the Pokemon Center. This NPC will Hyper Train a Pokemon for the cost of one Bottle Cap per stat, or one Gold Bottle Cap for all six stats.

You can only Hyper Train Pokemon that are level 50 or above.

Simply select the stat you wish to train, pay the Bottle Cap, and you're done. You may notice an immediate increase in the Pokemon's stats, or you may need to EV train it first before the change is apparant. Either way, if you have the Judge Function unlocked, you can check the Pokemon's IVs to see that the stat now says Hyper Trained.

How To Get Bottle Caps

Unlike past Pokemon games, Bottle Caps are extremely common in Scarlet and Violet. There are a few different ways to obtain these items, but the easiest is to just buy them from Delibird Presents for 20,000 Pokedollars each. The Delibird Presents in Cascarrafa, Levincia, and Mesagoza are the only stores that sell them.

Gold Bottle Caps, on the other hand, are very hard to come by. These can only be obtained from Event Tera Raid battles, from the Academy Ace Tournament, or from the auction in Porto Marinada.
