Netflix has shared another brief look at Sonic Prime that seems to match up with an earlier plot synopsis leak, revealing that Sonic will be traversing the "Shatterverse" after a fight with Eggman goes too far.
One of the most exciting shows in the works at Netflix is Sonic Prime, something that it seems to know as it keeps teasing desperate fans with tiny sneak peeks and teasers instead of a full trailer, each raising more questions than the last. This latest teaser is the longest and most full of footage that we've had so far, though.
The trailer begins by showing Sonic running through Green Hill Zone, before running into and getting into a fight with Shadow. We then see Sonic getting into a fight with Eggman where he says he'll break whatever he mechs he brings, before we see what looks like another encounter of theirs where they're fighting in a cave with crystals.
It seems that Sonic goes a bit too far in his fight with Eggman, as he shatters the crystals and seems to be running for his life at the end of the trailer, likely to another dimension. The tagline attached to the teaser, "he'll shatter your world", implies that it's Sonic's fault and not Eggman's.
The short teaser didn't reveal too much, but it did confirm a leak from a couple of weeks ago that gave a basic synopsis of the show's plot. As shared by KingMario05 on the Sonic subreddit, the WildBrain licensing magazine revealed the basic premise of the show, which lines up with what we get to see in the trailer.
It reads, "In Sonic Prime, the action-packed adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog go into overdrive when a run-in with Dr. Eggman results in a literal universe-shattering event. Desperate to piece his prime reality back together and save his old friends, Sonic races through the Shatterverse, discovering strange worlds and enlisting new friends in an epic adventure of a lifetime".
We've known for some time that Sonic Prime would be a multiverse adventure of some kind, but the synopsis here and the teaser released by Netflix today show that it's a result of Sonic and Eggman battling, and presumably Sonic's fault.
