Twitch streaming legend Byron ‘Reckful’ Bernstein has died, aged 31.
The Mirror states his ex-girlfriend, known as Blue, appeared to confirm the sad news.
‘Yes, it’s him. He’s gone,’ she penned on Twitter.
‘I’ve been having a panic attack for an hour. I don’t know what to do.’
His cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
Tributes poured in for Reckful from around the gaming community, as many flocked to social media to recall their favourite memories with him.
Rod Breslau wrote: ‘I’ve been fortunate enough to know Reckful through the start of his career as the Rank 1 WoW Arena legend on BG9 and Compexity Red MLG esports champion, all the way through to being one of the most innovative streamers in Twitch history.
‘Byron’s legacy will never be forgotten.’
‘We miss you already, Reckful. It was an honour to know you,’ HealthyGamer_GG said.
‘Our community isn’t the same without you, and we’re all better for having had you in our lives.’
‘I became a Reckful fan when I watched him play Shadowdance Rogue in 2010 at MLG Columbus,’ a Twitter user posted.
‘I was 15 at the time and became instantly hooked and inspired to be as skilled as he was. RIP legend.’
‘My favourite memories of Reckful will always be the time we spent together hanging out at events, in hotels & exploring in places around the world,’ another commented.
‘Incredibly hard to accept that he’s gone. RIP Byron.’
Byron had hundreds of thousands of followers on streaming site Twitch, and was one of the more popular stars on the platform.
He was a former professional eSports player, and made a name for himself for his achievements while playing World of Warcraft and Call.
The gamer eventually moved to become a developer, and was working on his own video game, Everland.
According to ComicBook.com, he stated he wanted to use his project to help people find a sense of community and friendship.
