Call of Duty publisher Activision is getting ready to release the Season 3 update for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0. The next Call of Duty season has an April 12 release date on PS4, PlayStation 5, Xbox consoles and PC. The Season 3 update has a 6pm BST UK launch time, although the patch itself should be available to download an hour before the season begins.
Needless to say, the launch of a new season means lots of new content for both Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2.
Activision explains more: “During this season, you can expect the return of Gunfight and Plunder, additional features such as the Barter System in DMZ, a legendary Sniper Rifle now under a new manufacturer, the launch of Warzone Ranked Play, and a new way to dominate the Battle Pass AO by joining the ranks of the exclusive BlackCell.”
First up are the new operators Alejandro and Valeria, which are available as part of the Battle Pass.
Speaking of the Battle Pass, new weapons include the FJX Imperium sniper rifle, as well as the Cronen Squall battle rifle.
There’s even a separate Black Cell Battle Pass, which includes premium offerings such as another new Operator, a weapon blueprint, vehicle skin, a finishing move and COD points.
Outside of the Battle Pass, the new season adds various features to both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0.
At launch, Modern Warfare 2 adds the Pelayo’s Lighthouse and the Black Gold core maps, as well as the Rohan Oil and Sattiq Cave Complex battle maps. The Alboran Hatchery will join the game in the middle of the season.
Warzone 2.0 gets plenty of new content, such as the 150-person Massive Resurgence across Al Mazrah.
Elsewhere, Plunder returns during Season 3, alongside various new features such as Redeploy Drones in Al Mazrah, Tempered Plate Carriers, Perk Packages, UAV Towers and Ranked Play.
Finally, DMZ adds a Barter System, new missions, workbenches and lots more.
Full patch notes will be revealed shortly.
