Pokemon Go Shiny Ekans: How to catch Shiny Ekans, Arbok during Team Rocket Event?

Team Rocket is blasting off again! And this time they've brought with them six brand new shiny pokemon to the mobile game Pokemon GO!

Whilst Pokemon GO players aren't exactly short of Shiny Pokemon to capture, Niantic has seen fit to add a hatful of new shiny pokemon to the game this evening.

So players have even more reasons to get outside and get catching. It's all part of the new Team Rocket event, which has also seen Team Rocket Grunts populating the map.

At the time of writing Pokemon GO players already have well over 120 Shiny Pokemon in the game, but this evening, you can catch and evolve a further six!

Reports are circling that Shiny Ekans, Koffing and Sneasel are available. And on top of this, you can evolve each Pokemon into it's shiny evolved forms of Arbok, Weezing, and Weavile.

For the purpose of this page, we're focusing on the Gen 1 poison bug pokemon, Ekans and also the evolved form, Arbok.

So here's everything you need to know about getting the games shiny snake.

At the time of writing, we can say for certain that your best bet of encountering a shiny Ekans will be in the wild.

Equally, it's worth remembering that it's not possible to encounter a Shiny Arbok in the wild, in eggs or in raid battles.

Egg Hatches:

At the time of writing, Ekans is not currently available eggs. So you can rule out that option.

Raid Battles:

At the time of writing, Ekans is currently available to fight and catch as tier 1 raid boss.

In the Wild:

Ekans is spawning in the wild, with slightly increased rates for the duration of the Team Rocket event. However, to increase your chances of encountering a shiny, you want to go somewhere spawning as many Ekans as possible.

We'd suggest that to boost your chances you should head over to the Silph Road Global Nest Atlas to find your nearest Ekans nest, because obviously, the more you encounter, the higher your odds.
